Philippine law enforcement authorities have seized approximately 5kg of methamphetamine, also known as shabu, valued at PhP34 million in what officials are calling the largest drug haul in the history of MIMAROPA region.

The operation, conducted on September 16, 2024 in Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro, resulted in the arrest of two suspects, identified as Luis Delos Reyes Baes, 45, and his wife Lyn Ylagan Baes, 41.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) MIMAROPA led the operation, supported by the National Bureau of Investigation and Bongabong police forces.

PDEA Acting Regional Director Jet G. Cariño said the seizure had “disrupted one of the supply chains flooding shabu in MIMAROPA and nearby regions”.

The suspects will face charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

PDEA said they will dismantle more drug networks in the coming days.
