The Occidental Mindoro State College (OMSC) has pushed for its internationalization goals by participating in the World Engineering, Science, and Technology Congress (ESTCON) 2024 held on September 10-11, 2024 in Sabah, Malaysia.

The congress, organized by Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), a leading Malaysian research university and OMSC’s international partner, brought together academics, researchers, scientists, engineers, and industry experts from around the globe.

This year’s theme, “Future Positioning through Sustainable Energy, Digitalization, and Smart Community,” tackled the growing importance of sustainable technologies and digital innovation in addressing global challenges.

ESTCON 2024 brings together global experts to share research on decarbonization, innovation, and sustainability.

The congress featured multiple conferences, keynote speakers, and panel discussions on topics such as energy transition, smart living ecosystems, and ESG practices in business.

OMSC’s delegation included Dr. Harold Q. Bautista, Director for External Linkages and International Affairs; Dr. Michelle D. Enriquez, Dean of the College of Engineering; and Engr. Abigail N. Gonzales, Director for Planning, Development, Monitoring, and Evaluation.

The participation of OMSC in ESTCON 2024 exhibits a trend of internationalization among Philippine higher education institutions. In recent years, OMSC has been expanding its international partnerships.

The college’s presence at ESTCON provides an opportunity for knowledge exchange and potential research collaborations with institutions from other countries, serving as a platform for discussing cutting-edge developments in engineering, science, and technology, with a particular focus on sustainable solutions.
