A tropical storm outside the country’s borders (Philippine Area of Responsibility) and the southwest monsoon are expected to bring rain and thunderstorms to various parts of the country, including MIMAROPA areas, in the next 24 hours.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Tropical Storm Bebinca, located 2,070 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, is moving west-northwestward at 25 kilometers per hour with maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 90 kilometers per hour.
The trough of the tropical storm is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Sorsogon, and Masbate, with possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms to Metro Manila, MIMAROPA region, and the rest of the country, including Mindoro province. Residents in these areas are advised to be prepared for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
In MIMAROPA, which includes the provinces of Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan, the southwest monsoon is expected to bring moderate to heavy rains, especially in the afternoon and evening. Fishermen and boat operators are advised to exercise caution due to rough seas.
PAGASA also forecast light to moderate winds blowing from the southwest to west, with slight to moderate coastal waters of 0.6 to 2.5 meters.
The temperature in Metro Manila ranged from a minimum of 25 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 32 degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours, while the relative humidity ranged from 55% to 92%.
PAGASA advised the public to monitor weather updates and warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to heavy rains.
