PHO Mindoro Holds Webinar on Suicide Prevention Sept 10

The Provincial Health Office of (PHO) Occidental Mindoro will hold a free webinar to commemorate National Suicide Prevention Day, titled “#SimulanNatinAngUsapan: Changing the Narrative on Suicide”.

The webinar, scheduled to take place on September 10, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 NN, will be livestreamed on the PHO Occidental Mindoro’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.

Three guest speakers who will discuss the topic on suicide prevention include:

  1. Dr. Caroline Mae “Ginger” Ramirez, MSW, MSSC – Post Doctoral Scientist
  2. Ms. Sally Bongalonta – Alliance of Filipino Family for Mental Health, Inc.
  3. Dr. Sharlene Mae P. Ongoco, DSBPP – Program Director, NCMH Crisis Hotline and Center for Wellness.

The event is intended to raise awareness about suicide prevention, provide information on the services offered by the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH), and offer support to individuals and loved ones affected by mental health issues.

“We invite everyone to join us for this meaningful conversation,” according to the PHO. “Let’s work together to educate, support, and raise awareness about mental health, and change the narrative on suicide.”

The webinar will feature discussions on suicide prevention, the importance of mental health, and the services provided by the NCMH. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions and share their experiences.

The event is part of PHO Occidental Mindoro’s program to promote mental health awareness and support in the province.

PHO has been working to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues and provide access to mental health services for those in need.
