DA-MIMAROPA Warns of Fraud Scheme Using Regional Director’s Name

The Department of Agriculture in MIMAROPA region has issued an urgent public notice, warning of fraudulent activities involving the unauthorized use of a high-ranking official’s name.

According to the notice, individuals have been impersonating Regional Executive Director Atty. Christopher R. BaƱas to solicit funds or engage in unauthorized transactions in exchange for money or favors.

“The Department of Agriculture does not condone deception or fraudulent activity,” the statement reads. “Legal action will be taken against any individual or group engaging in such activities.”

The agency urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.

Individuals who might encounter fraudulent representations involving Director BaƱas’ name are advised to immediately contact DA-MIMAROPA office or notify law enforcement authorities such as the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) or Philippine National Police (PNP).

“Your cooperation is vital in helping us safeguard the public’s trust and confidence,” the notice said, calling for community involvement in combating fraud.
