Mindoreña Beauty Queen Wins 2nd Runner-up in PH Tourism Pageant

Mary Joy Suarez, representing Occidental Mindoro, clinched the second runner-up position in the Miss Tourism Philippines 2024 pageant held in August 26 at La Union Convention Center.

Governor Eduardo B. Gadiano lauded Suarez’s success, citing its importance for Occidental Mindoro’s tourism and cultural promotion efforts.

Gadiano said the provincial government views her accomplishment as a catalyst for boosting local tourism and showcasing the province”s natural resources.

“Suarez’s achievement is not just a personal victory, but a triumph for our entire province,” Gadiano said. “It puts Occidental Mindoro in the national spotlight, potentially attracting more visitors to our island.”

The Miss Tourism Philippines pageant, an annual event aimed at promoting the country’s diverse tourist destinations, saw contestants from various provinces and cities competing for the crown.

Mary Joy Suarez’s performance in the competition has been hailed as an inspiration to the youth of Occidental Mindoro.

The provincial government said it hopes her success will encourage more young people to participate in cultural and tourism-related activities.

Gadiano said the provincial government plans to leverage this achievement to enhance its tourism programs and initiatives that highlight Mindoreño culture.

He added that they are optimistic that Suarez’s recognition will contribute to a brighter economic future for the province, particularly in its tourism sector.

Occidental Mindoro, known for its pristine beaches and rich biodiversity, has been working to increase its profile as a tourist destination.

Suarez’s pageant success is seen as a step forward in these efforts.
