A priority infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic congestion in Calapan City has taken a major step forward, according to a Facebook post by Oriental Mindoro 1st District Rep. Arnan Panaligan.
The construction of the Tawiran-Guinobatan Connector Road, which will link the JP Rizal National Highway in Barangay Tawiran to Barangay Guinobatan (C5 Road Nautical Highway), has been funded by the Congress and included in the 2024 national budget.
The first phase of the project, worth PHP71 million, has been completed, while the second phase, funded in the 2025 national budget, is valued at PHP70 million.
The Tawiran-Guinobatan Connector Road is part of the AGILA (Aksyon ng Gobyerno at Inisyatibo sa Larangang Lehislatura) project, which aims to improve the legislative performance of the government.
The project is seen as a community-changing accomplishment for Panaligan and his team, who have been working to improve the infrastructure and services in Calapan City.
The completion of the Tawiran-Guinobatan Connector Road is expected to benefit thousands of Mindoreño residents and commuters who travel through the area daily.
