    Calapan City Ranks 12th in Top 100 Most Progressive Places of the Philippines

    CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – Calapan City has been ranked 12th in the Top 100 Progressive Places of the Philippines, according to the latest rankings of the National Competitiveness Council.

    The rankings, which were released on August 22, 2024, are based on the sum of scores on four pillars: Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure, Resiliency, and Innovation.

    The rankings are part of the Cities and Municipalities Competitive Index (CMCI) 2024, an annual ranking of Philippine cities and municipalities developed by the National Competitiveness Council through the Regional Competitiveness Committees (RCCs) with the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

    Calapan City, a component city in Oriental Mindoro, scored 48.9318 in the rankings, placing it 12th among the top 100 progressive places in the country.

    The city’s strong performance in the rankings is a testament to its efforts to improve its competitiveness and provide better services to its citizens.

    “We are proud of our city’s achievement in the rankings,” said Malou Flores-Morillo, mayor of Calapan City. “This is a result of the hard work and dedication of our city officials and employees, as well as the support of our people. We will continue to work hard to improve our city’s competitiveness and provide better services to our constituents.”

    The Top 100 Progressive Places of the Philippines rankings are a valuable tool for cities and municipalities to assess their competitiveness and identify areas for improvement.

    The rankings also provide a basis for policy-making and resource allocation, enabling cities and municipalities to prioritize their development efforts and achieve their goals.
