The San Jose District Hospital (SJDH) in Occidental Mindoro inaugurated its upgraded clinical laboratories and new facilities on Aug. 22, marking a milestone in its ongoing expansion project.
Occidental Mindoro Governor Eduardo B. Gadiano led the blessing and turnover ceremony of the facilities, which include enhanced clinical laboratories, a new waiting area, and the installation of feeder lines and cable trays.
The project, valued at PHP7,989,449.57, was funded by the Department of Health (DOH) under its Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP).
In his address, Gadiano expressed his commitment to transforming SJDH into a fully operational general hospital, in line with President Ferdinand “BBM” Marcos Jr.’s directive.
Dr. Apolonio C. Domingo Jr., Chief of Hospital I at SJDH, conveyed his gratitude to the governor and attendees, saying the upgrade is a step towards elevating the hospital to a second category level.
Other dignitaries present included SK Federation President and Board Member Ainah Baticados, Dr. Arlene Santos-Sy of the Provincial DOH Office (PDOHO), Engr. Arnold Alcayde representing Dr. Romualdo M. Salazar Jr., and Engr. Franklin Angel representing Engr. Remigo V. Masangkay.
The newly inaugurated facilities include various specialized sections such as the Cultural-Media Preparation Room, Microbiology/Cultural and Sensitivity Room, Sterilization Room, and Clinical Microscopy Section, among others. A spacious and well-ventilated waiting room for patients’ companions was also constructed.
The ceremony concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Edwin P. Sulit, Chief of Clinic at SJDH, and a blessing led by Father Maphet Arevalo.
