    Magsaysay LGU Lauded for Excellent Disaster Management Efforts

    The municipality of Magsaysay in Occidental Mindoro has been recognized for its exceptional performance and dedication to disaster risk reduction and management.

    The awards were given in recognition of the town’s exceptional performance in disaster risk reduction and management, including its efforts to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disaster incidents.

    The town received a Plaque of Commendation as “Beyond Compliant” in the 2023 Gawad KALASAG Seal by the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) during an awards night held on Saturday.

    The town’s Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) also received a Plaque of Recognition for its contributions to building a resilient and proactive community.

    As part of the recognition, the MDRRMO received a gift certificate that includes a range of equipment and supplies to enhance its disaster response capabilities. The items received include:
    -10 drums, which can be used for storing water or other essential supplies during disaster response operations;
    -50 pieces of jerrycans, which can be used for storing and transporting fuel or other liquids;
    -30 units of jetmatic pumps, which can be used for pumping water or other fluids during disaster response operations;
    -5 units of gasoline engine water pumps, which can be used for pumping water or other fluids during disaster response operations;
    20 pieces of hygiene kits, which can be used to promote personal hygiene and prevent the spread of diseases during disaster response operations;
    -10 pieces of e-balde green DOH, which are specialized containers for storing and transporting medical supplies;
    -10 pieces of e-balde green, which are specialized containers for storing and transporting other essential supplies; and
    2 rolls of tents, which can be used to provide shelter for affected communities during disaster response operations.
