The Department of Health’s MIMAROPA Center for Health Development has been conducting a series of trainings on an integrated clinic information system across four provinces, aiming to strengthen health services through improved technology use.
The trainings, which began in May and continued through July, focus on the Integrated Clinic Information System (iClinicsys) with Electronic Claims Version 4.2. They also include ICT assessments to prepare for the implementation of iHOMIS and iClinicsys.
Sessions have been held in multiple municipalities across Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Romblon, and Palawan.
Participants include representatives from rural health units and hospitals, as well as computer programmers and encoders.
The initiative aims to enhance ICT services by promoting the use of interoperable health information systems and electronic medical records. It also seeks to ensure proper maintenance of ICT equipment.
“This training provides crucial preparation for the implementation of iHOMIS and iClinicsys, which will improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of health information systems in the region,” said a spokesperson for the Center for Regional Epidemiology and Technology Enhancement (CRE@TE) – Health Information Services at DOH Manila.
Municipalities benefiting from the training include Victoria, Pinamalayan, and Calapan City in Oriental Mindoro; Sta. Cruz and Calintaan in Occidental Mindoro; San Andres, Corcuera, Alcantara, and Looc in Romblon; and San Vicente in Palawan.
The Department of Health (DOH) sees the initiative as part of its broader goal to improve healthcare delivery across the MIMAROPA region, which includes the provinces of Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan.
DOH officials hope the enhanced information systems will lead to better patient care and more efficient health services throughout the island provinces, emphasizing the value and the importance of technological advancement in healthcare.
