Oriental Mindoro’s tourism office has extended the deadline for its “TouristMoto” motorcycle vlogging contest to August 10, 2024, giving Mindoreño riders more time to showcase the province’s attractions and compete for cash prizes up to PhP100,000.
The contest, initially set to end August 1, invites Oriental Mindoreño riders to create video blogs featuring travel experiences across the province’s 15 towns and one city.
Organizers aim to promote tourism while highlighting the region’s natural beauty, culture and heritage.
“This is a unique opportunity for our local motorcycle enthusiasts to become tourism ambassadors,” the Provincial Tourism Office said in a post. “We want to see Oriental Mindoro through their eyes and share those experiences with a wider audience.”
To qualify, contestants must be Oriental Mindoro residents and members of a rider association under the Oriental Mindoro Riders’ Federation. Proof of residency and membership are required for entry.
Vlogs must focus on the theme “My Travel Oriental Mindoro Experience” and can feature multiple towns. Content should respect local religions, cultures and heritage while remaining appropriate for all ages.
Technical requirements include:
- Video length between 2-4 minutes
- MP4, MOV or AVI file formats
- Preferred resolutions of 1080p or 4K
- Original content created by the participant
- Royalty-free or properly licensed music
Ten finalists will be chosen based on relevance (40%), originality (20%), creativity (20%) and technical quality (20%). The public will then vote for the winner through Facebook reactions on the Oriental Mindoro Tourism page from August 5 to September 5.
Prize money increases based on the number of positive reactions:
- 50,000 pesos for 15,000+ reactions
- 75,000 pesos for 25,000+ reactions
- 100,000 pesos for 50,000+ reactions
Second and third place winners will receive 15,000 and 10,000 pesos respectively, with seven consolation prizes of 5,000 pesos each.
The contest aims to boost tourism in Oriental Mindoro, known for its pristine beaches, diving spots and the iconic Tamaraw buffalo. The province has been working to recover its tourism industry following pandemic-related closures.
Winners will be announced on September 13 during the province’s Gabi ng Pagkilala event.
