A new low pressure area (LPA) is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) late Thursday or early Friday, just as Typhoon Gaemi (locally known as Carina) exits, the state weather bureau PAGASA reported.
The weather disturbance was spotted east of Mindanao. Current weather models suggest a 50% chance it could develop into a tropical cyclone, PAGASA said, cautioning that forecasts may change.
If it intensifies into a storm within PAR, it will be named “Dindo,” the agency added.
PAGASA urged residents to stay alert for further updates on the developing weather system.
