Puerto Galera Mayor Rocky Ilagan of Puerto Galera met with Congressman Arnan C. Panaligan on Tuesday to discuss priority projects for the municipality in 2025.
The meeting, which took place at the congressman’s office in the House of Representatives, focused on several flood control and seawall initiatives aimed at enhancing the town’s infrastructure and resilience against natural disasters.
According to Mayor Ilagan, the proposed projects include:
- Phase 2 of the flood control project in Barangay San Isidro
- Flood control project in Barangay Tabinay
- Flood control project in Barangay Poblacion
- Flood control project in Barangay Balatero
- Seawall project in Barangay Poblacion
These projects are seen as critical for the coastal municipality, which is vulnerable to flooding and storm surges due to its geographic location.
“We are grateful for Congressman Panaligan’s continued support in bringing these essential projects to Puerto Galera,” Mayor Ilagan said in a Facebook post following the meeting.
The discussion of these priority projects for 2025 indicates a forward-looking approach to urban planning and disaster preparedness in the municipality, underscoring the ongoing collaboration between local and national government officials in addressing the needs of constituents.
Congressman Panaligan, who represents the 1st District of Oriental Mindoro, has been instrumental in facilitating various development projects in the province. His support for these initiatives is expected to play a crucial role in securing funding and implementation.
The timeline for the approval and implementation of these projects will depend on various factors, including budget allocations and technical assessments.
